Herbalife Family Foundation to Establish Michigan’s First Casa Herbalife Program
The Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to improving children’s lives by helping organizations provide healthy nutrition to vulnerable youth, recently made a donation to Lily Missions Center, a Jackson-based non-profit organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for the youth through their outcome based After School Program, Summer Reading Program, and Teen Transition Programs.
The donation will create Michigan’s first Casa Herbalife program and contribute to the city’s efforts to improve the area’s high poverty, low academic performance and high school drop out rates. According to the City of Jackson, 40 percent of Jackson residents live at or below the national poverty level and only 68 percent of high school aged residents graduate from high school, well below the state’s 80 percent graduation rate. Currently, 73 percent of the students who attend Jackson Public Schools receive free or reduced lunch.
The Casa Herbalife Program was established in 2005 to help bring good nutrition to children living in orphanages, using after school centers, and other non-profit facilities around the world tasked with helping underserved young people. In addition to the annual financial grants made by the Herbalife Family Foundation, the organizations receive local financial and volunteer support from independent Herbalife members as well as Herbalife employees. The program provides over $2.3 million in funding and volunteer assistance each year to more than 100 organizations worldwide.
These funds bring nutrition to more than 100,000 children in 50 countries on a daily basis.
